I wanted to give everyone another update on my reporting of crime and safety issues in this community.
At present, I have requests submitted for approximately 32 police reports from the Boulder Police Department, for incidents dating back to 7/10. This represents only a small sampling of the noteworthy incidents reported in Boulder during this time frame. Additionally, there were many more incidents whose reports I have not requested. (Police reports start at $7 each, making a full accounting cost-prohibitive.)
I’m sharing a few examples below both to show the kinds of incidents I’m trying to follow up on and to give people an idea of how long it is currently taking to obtain basic information about them. These are in chronological order.
7/10: A woman arrested for Bias Motivated Harassment, I believe in Goss Grove. She was back out of jail the following day.

=> I requested this report that day, on 7/10. On 7/23 (almost two weeks later), I got a response that the case was still open. I requested this again on 8/6 and have not heard back. This incident was now over a month ago.
7/11: A man fled a traffic stop (bike) into a residential neighborhood just after midnight. Multiple officers pursued him and took him into custody. I was asked about this by someone who lives in that neighborhood. I still don’t know the outcome of this call, in particular whether he was actually arrested.
=> Requested 7/13. On 7/29, I got a response that the report was still in progress. Re-requested 8/8, have not heard back.
7/21: A man arrested for Possession of Weapon By Previous Offender, Unlawful Concealed Carry or Possession of Weapon, and Unlawful Sexual Contact / No Consent. Per this person’s 7/22 court appearance, he allegedly had a concealed handgun and did not know the victim of the sexual contact. It was also mentioned he had a lengthy out-of-state record, that he was working on getting housing, and he had “zero money” for a cash bond. The location and circumstances of this incident are still unknown.
7/23: A high-dollar felony arson case from the 1700 block of Broadway. (The Muni building, where City Council meets, is at 1777 Broadway): ARSON-FOURTH DEGREE – PROPERTY $1,000,000 OR MORE – F2

7/24: A menacing of a tour group on campus. Per the link below (which includes a photo of the suspect):
“CUPD is investigating a reported menacing outside the Duane Physics building that occurred on Friday, July 24. It is reported that, at approx. 11:16 a.m., a male suspect approached a tour group yelling profane language. The suspect then brandished what appeared to be a knife. The suspect was seen leaving campus and walking toward the University Hill neighborhood approx. 10 minutes after the incident. No one was injured.”

7/27: A man robbed a gas station and a dispensary, both in the area of Folsom and Pearl. He was arrested. At his court hearing on 7/28, he was argumentative when the judge inquired about his intention to represent himself.

7/28: Two disturbances, about two hours apart, in the 1000 block of Arapahoe (that would be at or near the main public library). In both cases, paramedics were called in for assault victims. 7/31: SEXUAL ASSAULT-VICTIM AGE 15-17, also in the 1000 block of Arapahoe. https://x.com/BPDBlotter/status/2083291468970811901
7/31: A woman arrested for Robbery and 3rd Degree Assault, I believe in the area of 30th and Arapahoe. Per this person’s 8/3 court appearance, this was a violent robbery of a stranger, and she’d reportedly had many prior law enforcement contacts in other states.

8/1: A woman arrested at the shelter, 4869 Broadway, on multiple FTA warrants. https://x.com/BPDBlotter/status/2083835148819378333
8/6: A man arrested for 2nd Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Assault on a Peace Officer in the 1400 block of Canyon. This man had just been arrested on 8/2 (four days earlier) on charges including 3rd Degree Assault, Harassment, and Hindering Transportation. 8/8: A person arrested for 3rd Degree Assault and Criminal Mischief. This person also has a history of filming people in public against their wishes and has been discussed on Reddit.
8/8: A reported Harassment – Ethnic Intimidation at 14xx Walnut – this would have been at or near the bus station downtown. I don’t know if anyone was arrested.

8/9: A man arrested for Criminal Mischief [$5,000 to < $20,000] and Possession of Burglary Tools. This started at a restaurant at Broadway and Pearl, where I spoke to an employee earlier today. They said a man used a pick axe to damage a sign that they had mounted outside of their business, then used a dislodged brick to break one of their front windows. The suspect allegedly then used the pick axe to damage an ATM around the corner. This was discussed on Reddit, and see picture below.

8/13 (this morning): A man arrested for 1st Degree Assault – Extreme Indifference – SBI (serious bodily injury) and Crimes Against At Risk Adult – 1st Degree Assault (both felony charges). According to radio traffic, paramedics were dispatched to a gas station at 28th and Iris around 2:30 AM for an approximately 50-year-old woman described as “covered in blood.”
^ I have not requested this report. This suspect was due in court today, 8/13.
