👉 Boulder Crime Blotter — January 6th–25th, 2026
About this report
This report documents a selection of public-safety incidents occurring in Boulder, Colorado between January and April 2026 using police reports obtained through Colorado Open Records Act requests following the encryption of routine Boulder Police dispatch communications in October 2025.
Historically, many incidents of this nature would have been partially visible in real time through publicly accessible police scanner traffic. Since encryption, however, obtaining even limited information regarding day-to-day public-safety activity in Boulder increasingly requires individual records requests, significant delays, and ongoing out-of-pocket expense.
The incidents summarized here were reconstructed primarily from written police reports and related official records. In many cases, the original reports were substantially longer and contained additional investigative details that have been omitted or edited for clarity, readability, and privacy considerations.
This document is not intended as a comprehensive accounting of crime or emergency-response activity occurring in Boulder during this period. Rather, it represents a partial archival record of incidents that were able to be independently documented despite the city’s reduced level of real-time public transparency surrounding policing and emergency-response activity.
The report includes incidents involving assaults, fentanyl investigations, disturbances, arson, weapons calls, mental-health crises, public-space incidents, and repeat police contacts occurring throughout Boulder during early 2026.
