This report documents twenty-two (22) incidents occurring in Boulder, Colorado, from July 9th – September 26th using police reports obtained through Colorado Open Records Act requests. These are presented chronologically.
While some police reports have come in, obtaining them continues to be a challenge. A newer development, the Boulder Police Department’s Call Log hasn’t been updated since 10/1.
Trigger/Content Warning:
This post contains multiple incidents of hate crimes, animal abuse, multiple menacings with weapons, and other disturbing behaviors. Reader discretion is advised.
A Note About Hate Crimes and Bias-Related Incidents in Boulder:
We do have them. I have obtained many reports about hate crimes – racism, homophobia, etc. – which have occurred in Boulder since around 2020. Many other incidents have involved similar elements despite a lack of related charges. I have always wanted to get this material in one place as a topical report, similar to my compilations on overdoses and bike thefts. Regrettably, I have not had time to do so.
Racial Harassment Outside Mexican Restaurant
7/9
[I am redacting this location – a Mexican Restaurant in central Boulder]
4:07 PM
A female officer responded regarding a reported bias-motivated harassment. She spoke with the RP, who said she was walking to her car outside a Mexican restaurant when a woman riding a bicycle through the parking lot began yelling at her. She said the woman demanded her immigration documents, repeatedly claimed to work for ICE, and threatened to have her deported. She said the woman began circling the parking lot on her bike, referred to her and others as “a bunch of stupid Mexicans,” told her to “get out of her country,” and called her a “b-tch” among other derogatory names. She said the woman approached within arm’s reach and spat toward her, with the saliva landing on her bag.
The RP (reporting party) said the encounter ended when the woman realized she was calling 911. She said she “believed the female had been waiting outside the restaurant specifically to target someone who appeared to be Hispanic.”
The officer reviewed surveillance footage which corroborated her account, including showing the woman spitting toward her. She sent out a department-wide email asking about the suspect; two officers provided possible identities. She also got a response indicating the woman had been in the police department lobby earlier that afternoon on unrelated business. That email indicated she was “rude, condescending, and insulting.”
The officer learned the woman had been terminated from employment from a nearby business in January 2026 “due to continuous disruptive behavior.” She obtained a possible home address for her, which was also nearby.
The following day (7/10), officers responded to the suspect’s address. She was described as “immediately verbally antagonistic” and refused to come out and speak with officers. After about an hour, she came out and surrendered. She was arrested and charged with Bias Motivated Harassment.
Per jail records, she was no longer listed in the jail the following day (7/11).
On 7/22, the officer spoke with a deputy district attorney about a possible felony charge of impersonating a law enforcement officer. Portions of that follow-up are redacted, and the report does not establish whether an additional charge was filed.
*** I first requested this report on 7/10 (denied), again on 8/6 (denied), again on 8/25 (denied), and yet again on 9/11. I received it on 10/13. I’m not able to explain why the release of this report was delayed for over three months. ***
*** I believe this suspect was residing in a property managed by Boulder Housing Partners. ***
Late Night Traffic Stop of Bike Leads to Chase Through Neighborhood
7/11
47th and Mitchell Lane
12:09 AM
An officer on patrol observed a man riding past him on an ebike with no rear light. The officer noted that the man had been leaving Canfield Apartments, which he described as an area known for criminal activity, including drug activity. He attempted a traffic stop using his emergency lights and intermittently activating his siren. The rider looked back but continued onto bike paths and through a nearby neighborhood. The officer also reported that the man raised his left arm in what he interpreted as an obscene gesture.
When the rider entered a cul-de-sac near Hopkins Place and Sentinel Drive and tried to turn around, the officer exited his patrol car and tackled him off the bike onto the sidewalk. Another officer arrived to assist with the arrest.
The rider said he was trying to return to his halfway house and did not stop because he was scared. He was not injured and declined medical attention.
He was arrested for obstructing a peace officer and an outstanding Longmont FTA warrant on an original charge of failing to provide valid proof of insurance. His ebike and other belongings were placed into safekeeping.
*** I was originally asked about this arrest by someone who lives in that neighborhood. I requested this report on 7/13 (denied), again on 8/8 (denied), and yet again on 9/16. I finally received it on 10/9, almost three months later. ***
Racial Harassment at Downtown Bus Station
8/8
1400 Walnut, RTD bus station
11:56 AM
Police responded regarding a disturbance involving racial slurs at the bus station. They spoke with the victim, who described himself as unhoused. He said he was crossing the street when an older white woman began yelling racist comments at him, including an anti-black racial slur and “go back to your country,” along with other assorted comments and vulgarities. He said she approached him aggressively and made him feel threatened. The woman eventually boarded a bus (the 205) and left.
A witness corroborated the racial abuse and said the victim had done nothing to provoke it, but did not think the encounter would become physical. He thought the woman might be experiencing a mental health issue.
An officer later reviewed RTD surveillance footage with no audio. He reported that it did not show threatening posturing and that the victim continued engaging with the woman after she boarded the bus. The case was closed as unfounded. The footage could not establish what was said.
Indecent Exposure Call Leads to Warrant Arrest
8/19
10xx Pearl
12:12 AM
An officer responded regarding a reported indecent exposure. He located the suspect behind a brick pillar with his fly down, apparently adjusting his pants. He provided a name which turned out to be an alias that dispatch connected to his real identity.
The RP declined to provide her last name due to company policy. She provided video which officers said did not show exposure. One officer described the man holding a torch.
Officers learned the man had a nationwide extradition warrant for a felony parole violation, with an original charge of 2nd Degree Burglary of an Occupied Commercial Building. A search of his suitcase (with his consent) revealed three glass pipes, one with burn residue, a torch, and a concealed knife described as 6-7” long.
He was arrested on the warrant and additionally cited for Drug Paraphernalia, Carrying a Concealed Knife, and Obstruction. No indecent exposure charge was listed.
Scooter Incident Leads to Knife Menacing
8/21
15th and Spruce
9:26 AM
Officers responded regarding a reported menacing. They spoke with the RP, who said he was walking his dog on the sidewalk when he heard a bell and saw the suspect approaching from behind on a Lime scooter. He told the suspect he should be riding in the street. The suspect became upset and began cursing at him, including an anti-black racial slur and homophobic slurs.
The suspect attempted to park his scooter, then walked back toward him with it. The RP said the suspect pulled a switchblade-style folding knife and threatened to slash his throat. The RP backed away and left. He noted adults at a nearby nursery were trying to get the children inside.
A witness corroborated the argument and threat, although he did not see a knife. He said he had seen similar encounters in downtown Denver and left when he heard the threat. A nursery employee saw the suspect pull something she thought could be a knife or a long vape.
Officers canvassed multiple areas but did not locate the suspect.
At about 10:33 AM, officers responded to an accident involving a Lime scooter at Foothills and Valmont. They noted the rider matched the suspect’s description and recovered a folding knife from his pocket.
After being Mirandized, the man acknowledged the argument but said the RP approached him aggressively and both threatened violence. He denied displaying his knife, saying he pulled out his vape, but admitted threatening to cut the RP if approached. He was arrested for felony menacing.
*** The suspect was arrested again on 10/10 for a Boulder Muni FTA. ***
Knife Menacing Along Boulder Creek Path
8/26
Broadway and Arapahoe
6:03 PM
Police responded to a reported menacing on the Boulder Creek Path near Broadway and Arapahoe. A man said he had argued with a group blocking the path near Boulder High School earlier that day, then displayed bear spray when they approached him. When he encountered them again near Broadway, he said several of them approached with knives and two threatened to kill him. He backed away while recording with his phone and holding the bear spray.
According to police, the video showed several men following him and yelling obscenities. A shirtless man tried to deescalate, telling him to leave because the others were “all on acid.” One man appeared to hold a knife and conceal it as cyclists passed.
The men contacted by police said the reporting party had initiated the confrontation and threatened to spray them. Police initially released them while investigating further. No injuries were reported.
Two men were arrested on August 28th for felony menacing, with additional drug-related charges after police recovered apparent meth pipes. A third was arrested on September 12th; he said the knife was a multitool. All three were booked into jail.
Shoplifting Call Results in Warrant Arrest
8/26
33xx 28th St, Safeway
6:11 PM
Officers responded to Safeway at 28th and Iris after a security guard reported that a man had returned despite being barred from the store. The guard said he watched the man put merchandise into a backpack.
The suspect acknowledged knowing he was prohibited from entering and said he intended to steal the items rather than pay. The merchandise totaled $32.69: two energy drinks, two turkey sandwiches, and three alcoholic iced teas. He repeatedly said he was ready to go to jail.
Police found three active FTA warrants, including one involving an earlier theft from the same store. A search of his backpack revealed five glass pipes.
He was arrested and jailed for misdemeanor 2nd-degree burglary, theft, drug paraphernalia, and the outstanding warrants. (The burglary charge was based on entering the store to steal after previously being trespassed.) The merchandise was returned.
Arson Inside the Homeless Shelter
9/1/26
4869 Broadway, the shelter
9:32 AM
Officers responded regarding a male in the restroom who was reportedly lighting himself on fire. Upon arrival, they spoke with an employee, who advised the man had lit his jacket on fire, and someone else was burned putting out the fire.
Officers contacted the male, who was still in the restroom, sitting down and reading the Bible. He did not respond when questioned and did not appear injured. He was handcuffed and taken outside to an ambulance.
Officers spoke with a witness who was working on the fire alarm when this happened. (He noted the fire alarm panel was offline because it was being upgraded.) He said he suffered a burn on his hand trying to put out the fire and the man had pushed him away.
Another witness, a volunteer who had put the fire out, advised she had a minor burn on her hand as well. She advised the man still had the lighter in his hand when contacted and had burned his pants too. She advised he was upset that she had put the fire out; she stayed on scene in case he started another fire.
The suspect was taken to BCH for evaluation and medically cleared, with no injuries reported from the incident. After leaving the hospital, he hit his head on the side of the patrol vehicle twice, then became cooperative during transport to jail. He was booked on charges of 4th Degree Arson and Reckless Endangerment. The officer cited the danger the fire posed to people in the occupied building.
At his 9/2 court appearance, the judge set a $1,000 cash-or-surety bond with pretrial supervision, continued mental-health treatment and medication, and no weapons or fire-starting materials.
Shoplifting Incident Leads to Knife Menacing
9/3
27xx Arapahoe, Safeway
2:18 PM
A man was told to leave a store because of a previous shoplifting incident. The employee followed him outside and reminded him to take his bicycle. The man reportedly pulled out a knife and walked toward the employee, who backed toward the entrance and prepared to shut the door, if necessary. The employee thought the man was trying to intimidate him, but he did feel threatened.
A responding officer recognized the suspect’s description from an earlier trespassing call nearby. He reviewed surveillance footage with the store manager and confirmed it was the same man. The employee also identified him from an image taken from the officer’s earlier body-camera footage.
A CUPD officer located the suspect near 19th and Athens. A folding knife was recovered, and the man was arrested and jailed for felony menacing.
*** At his 9/4 court appearance, prosecutors said the man had been placed on probation in two cases earlier that week. They also alleged that, after his arrest, he spit on one jail deputy twice and another deputy once. The judge ordered him to stay away from the store. ***
*** I believe this man was the suspect in this 8/9 criminal mischief near Broadway and Pearl which involved a smashed window at a deli and pick axe assault on an ATM. (This was also discussed on Reddit.) He had a court appearance scheduled on 8/31; later that morning, he was no longer listed on the jail’s online roster. ***
Anti-Semitic Harassment Outside City Council Meeting
9/3 (incident date – reported online on 9/9)
1777 Broadway, the Municipal Building
Two women who survived the 6/1/25 anti-Semitic attack on Pearl Street reported being targeted by protesters as they left the 9/3/26 City Council meeting at the Municipal Building. Both had been injured in the Pearl Street Mall attack; one was also an elderly Holocaust survivor. The report describes how both women had taken a step back from public engagement, but came out only to speak about the Spruce Pool.
The women reported that protesters recognized them as victims from the 6/1/25 attack and then shouted obscenities at them, including “F-ck Israel” and “Zionist b-tches.” One woman also reported being shouted at about genocide and “baby killers.” A witness reported that protesters called the Holocaust survivor a “Nazi.” One victim reported that the bystander later told her he heard a protester say: “The Holocaust survivor is starting another holocaust.”
One of the victims said the protesters followed them toward their vehicle; the other was unsure. A bystander helped them leave and assisted another attendee whose scooter exit was reportedly blocked by the protesters. He did not record the encounter but provided video of remarks made afterward.
A family member acknowledged the protesters’ right to assemble but asked for a police presence outside meetings to prevent further harassment or violence.
After consulting the district attorney’s office, police concluded that the available evidence did not support prosecution without further evidence. The case was cleared on September 11th, with the DA declining prosecution.
The report lists two people as suspects; however, their names were redacted. The victims’ names, meanwhile, were included. I’m not able to explain that logic.
Animal Cruelty Call Results in Book-and-Release
9/5
28th and Valmont
10:13 AM
Two motorists independently reported seeing a man swinging a dog by its collar and leash, lifting all its feet off the ground, with one witness saying he did this “a few times.” The first incident was reported near 28th and Arapahoe around 8:34 AM; the second was near 28th and Valmont around 10:13 AM. The second caller said she and her young daughter could hear the dog whimpering, and other motorists were honking and yelling for the man to stop.
Police located the man and dog farther north on 28th Street. Officers reported that he repeatedly tried to walk away and swatted an officer’s hand, saying he “needed to take a sh-t.” Per the report, “He did not give much of a story and instead spent his time insulting officers on scene.” He later resisted being handcuffed. He denied choking the dog and said he had been pulling her collar to get her to walk ahead of him.
An officer reported no apparent neck injuries, but described the dog as very thin and lethargic, with difficulty standing for extended periods. The man said she had recently undergone surgery and had stomach problems. Dog food, medication, and treats were found among his belongings. Officers also located paperwork indicating he had received a summons from Aurora Animal Protection; the details of the summons are redacted from the report. Officers discarded a bag of cans which were leaking and smelled of alcohol.
The dog was taken to the Boulder Humane Society. The man was arrested for Animal Cruelty and Obstruction. He was taken to jail to be booked and released.
Argument Leads to Gun Menacing
9/5
4800 Baseline
4:20 PM
Officers responded after a man reportedly pointed a gun at a woman outside a pharmacy. They immediately took the male suspect into custody at gunpoint.
The woman said their argument began at the pharmacy counter when he called her transphobic over her shirt, which expressed opposition to men in women’s bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports. She responded with profanity.
The woman said he waited outside and confronted her with his phone. She knocked it from his hand, after which he reportedly pointed a handgun at her and said “I’m gonna shoot you, I’m gonna shoot you.” This caused her to fear for her life.
Officers reported that surveillance footage showed her striking at his hand, followed by him drawing a gun and holding it with both hands, pointing it toward her as he backed away.
The woman’s sisters said the suspect wanted to leave, but they insisted on waiting for the police. The woman stood behind his vehicle to block him in, and he backed into her twice. She had no visible injuries and declined medical care.
A store employee later said he saw the women surrounding the man, who appeared frightened and defensive. He also relayed an unidentified witness’s claim that the women struck the man with bags and shouted hate speech; he did not personally witness those actions.
The man was arrested and jailed for felony menacing.
At his initial court appearance the following day, the defense disputed the allegations and raised self-defense, saying he had been retreating. The judge set a $10,000 PR bond with pretrial supervision, no victim contact, and no weapons. By that evening, he was no longer listed on the jail’s online roster.
This was discussed in a now-deleted Reddit post (which still includes the subsequent commentary) and also this post on Nextdoor.
Knife Threats During a Dispute Over a Dog
9/6
1001 Arapahoe, Boulder Public Library
5:26 PM
Officers responded regarding a menacing with a knife near the Boulder Public Library at 1001 Arapahoe Avenue. A man reported finding his missing dog across the creek with another man and that man’s girlfriend. When he asked for the dog back, the other man reportedly rushed toward him with his fists raised. The dog’s owner ran away and called 911.
Several people crossed the creek to help retrieve the dog. The girlfriend reportedly accused the owner of abusing it and claimed to have video, but did not produce it. One member of the group said the other man became agitated and said, “Y’all are threatening my wife.” Two members said he displayed a folding knife and made threats, including “I know where you sleep.” One also reported being told, “I got a bullet for you.” They said the man threw the knife into the dirt, picked it up, reopened it, and then fled down the creek.
Another member of the group retrieved the dog. No physical contact or injuries were reported. Police could not locate the suspect, who had only a street name, or establish his legal identity, including through the Homeless Outreach Team. The case was closed on September 19th for lack of further leads or evidence.
Suspected Fentanyl and Stolen Financial Cards at the Muni Building
9/7
1777 Broadway, the Municipal Building
9:01 AM
Officers conducting a directed patrol at the Municipal Building watched a group on the east side through the building’s windows. They saw a man preparing a white substance on foil, apparently to smoke it. When approached, he balled up the foil and put it in his backpack.
The man initially said the substance was “clear” (meth), then said it was fentanyl he had found in an alley in Denver. Police recovered 1.53 grams of suspected fentanyl.
Officers also found another person’s wallet, identification, and financial cards, along with three Visa gift cards marked $200 each and $95.75 in cash. The wallet’s owner said it disappeared at a coffee shop near 28th and Arapahoe three days earlier. She reported unauthorized purchases at Target and declined transactions elsewhere.
The man initially claimed he found the wallet in Denver, then said he found it near a bridge or bike path in Boulder. He admitted using the cards at several stores, including buying the gift cards. He denied ownership of a brown blanket containing large bolt cutters and wire cutters. Police recovered receipts and requested store surveillance footage of the transactions.
The suspect was arrested and jailed on charges involving drugs, theft, possession of identifying information, and unauthorized use of financial cards. Some of the owner’s belongings were returned.
Woman Attempts Early Morning Entry Into Occupied Home
9/8
[Location redacted from report; I believe this was downtown]
12:00 PM
An officer called a woman who had reported an attempted entry into her home at 6:35 AM that morning. The victim said her doorbell camera recorded a woman trying the handle and repeatedly pushing against her locked residential door while she and another resident were asleep inside. The woman left about a minute later without entering or damaging the property.
An officer reviewed the video and recognized the woman from previous contacts.
Later that afternoon, police received multiple reports of a woman exposing herself near Broadway and Iris. (They noted she has been known to generate calls of the same type.) They found her sleeping on the sidewalk. She said she was trying to cool down.
When asked about the attempted entry, she said she did not remember it, including after being shown an image from the video. She denied recent drug or alcohol use and was cooperative during her arrest. When asked, she was also aware of what city she was in, what year it was, and what month it was.
She was taken to jail on charges of 1st Degree Trespass and Criminal Attempt, along with an outstanding FTA warrant involving trespassing. No indecent-exposure charge was listed.
Altercation on RTD Bus Leads to Assault
9/8
30th and Glenwood
5:26 PM
An officer responded to a reported assault on a public bus. He spoke with the victim, who had a knot on her forehead and was in pain. She said she was sitting with her husband when an unknown male yelled at them to stop yelling, even though they were just talking. During the ensuing argument, the husband directed an anti-black racial slur at the male, who then began punching him. She said that when she intervened, the male pushed and punched her, then grabbed her phone from the seat and smashed it. The male argued with the bus driver before police arrived.
Officers noted the husband also had a knot and lacerations on his forehead with visible blood. He advised he had been punched in the face about 15 times, and the suspect twisted his already injured arm, which was in a brace. He described being in great pain (10/10). He was transported to the hospital.
Officers noted that both victims were unhoused and living in their car near a restaurant on Glenwood. They did not have a working cell phone besides the one which was destroyed.
Officers contacted the male suspect at 30th and Eagle Trail. He admitted approaching the husband and slapping him. He said the wife struck him and the confrontation became a fight. His accounts differed about whether he hit her back.
The man was arrested and jailed on two counts of 3rd Degree Assault and one count of Criminal Mischief. Police requested bus surveillance footage; the report did not include its review or findings.
*** The male provided his residential address, but it was redacted from the report. I believe he was listed at Bluebird, a permanently supportive housing facility at 2445 30th St. ***
*** The same man was arrested in April 2022 after refusing repeated requests to leave a church on Baseline Road where he had formerly worked. He allegedly punched an employee who refused him a cigarette, then threw a second punch that the employee blocked. Two witnesses corroborated the account. He fled from police and was arrested nearby, charged with 3rd Degree Assault, Trespassing, and Obstructing a Peace Officer. One of the two witnesses in that case is currently a Boulder Progressives board member. ***
Sexual Groping at Bus Stop on Broadway
9/9
Broadway and College
3:40 PM
Officers responded regarding a reported unlawful sexual contact. Since the victim had left, they spoke with her by phone. She said she was standing at the bus stop just north of this intersection when a man approached her making eye contact. When she moved aside to let him through, he grabbed her genital area (over her pants) and continued walking. He did not say anything. The woman yelled “Hey,” causing him to turn around, and took a photo of him. The man fled south on Broadway.
Officers contacted the suspect nearby. When officers asked about grabbing the female – and did not specify where she was grabbed – he responded “No I didn’t grab her. Grabbed her vagina?” The officer cited this unsolicited reference to the specific body part, together with the woman’s account, as grounds for arrest. The man was arrested and charged with misdemeanor Unlawful Sexual Contact.
Officers learned he had a prior conviction for Unlawful Sexual Contact and was a registered sex offender. Details of the prior conviction were redacted from the report.
Disturbance at Downtown Theater
9/9
20xx 14th Street, Boulder Theater
10:06 PM
Officers responded regarding a man refusing to leave the Boulder Theater. Staff said he had been making Nazi salutes inside and calling a black security guard racial slurs. The guard said the man had earlier been warned following complaints of transphobic behavior and inappropriate conduct toward women.
The man said his car keys were inside and demanded to retrieve them. Staff checked where his companion said the keys might be but could not find them. Officers described him as apparently intoxicated, with slurred speech. They repeatedly told him to leave and inquire about the keys the following day.
He walked away but circled around to the rear entrance and tried to re-enter. A security employee said he got in her face without touching her.
Officers arrested him for trespassing. They reported that he deliberately fell while being escorted to a patrol vehicle, then resisted their search. They took him to the ground and applied a spit hood and WRAP restraint. While being restrained, he reportedly tried to bite two officers’ wrists, then made chomping motions while laughing. Neither officer was injured.
Throughout the encounter, the man repeatedly shouted racial and homophobic slurs, boasted about his wealth, threatened legal action, and said he would be released the next day. Officers reviewing body-camera transcripts counted dozens of slurs.
He was taken to BCH for medical clearance, then jailed on two counts of attempted second-degree assault on a peace officer, obstruction, and third-degree criminal trespass.
*** At his 9/10 court appearance, the judge ordered him to stay away from the Boulder Theater. Jail records indicated he was no longer listed in the jail later that day. ***
Indecent Exposure at Neighborhood Park
9/11
3100 Kings Ridge Blvd, Christensen Park
2:34 PM
Summons only:
“[Defendant] knowingly exposed his genitals to the view of a person under circumstances likely to cause affront to that person in a public place where such conduct was reasonably expected to be viewed by members of the public.”
The summons notes that the suspect was observed urinating in the park and that the victim provided photographic proof, which was uploaded to the case file. The address recorded for the suspect is listed as commercial property in Broomfield.
Group Observed Sharing Meth Pipe Downtown
9/13
17xx Broadway (near Mustard’s Last Stand)
1:48 PM
Officers conducted a directed patrol in response to suspected drug activity. (The report notes this is a “high-crime” area.) They observed a group load a glass pipe with a white crystalline substance and pass it among themselves. Four of them smoked from it; a fifth one received the pipe and later put it beneath a mat he was sitting on.
At 2:01 PM, officers made contact with the group. They recovered the pipe, along with a second pipe and 0.29 grams of suspected meth, and advised the incident had been recorded on video. All five people received summonses for Unlawful Use of a Controlled Substance. One was also cited for possession.
Random Assault at Downtown Bus Station
9/15
1400 Walnut, downtown RTD bus station
10:11 PM
Officers responded regarding multiple disturbances at the bus station, including an assault. A woman waiting for a bus reported that a man she did not know walked up and punched her in the side of the head without warning. She requested medical attention, and police photographed her injury.
When contacted, the man acknowledged hitting her, but claimed she and another man had followed him from Denver and were using lasers to burn him. He also claimed they rushed him after he asked to be left alone.
Security reported that the suspect had earlier been refused entry onto a bus, kicked its door, and knocked down another person’s bag. (A phone inside the bag sustained about $10-15 in damage to its screen protector.) Security witnessed those incidents but did not directly see the assault.
Police confirmed that the man had been released from jail the previous day (9/14) after being held on two FTA warrants. He was arrested and jailed again for 3rd Degree Assault and Criminal Mischief.
Sexual Groping on CU Campus
9/26
10xx 18th Street, Imig Music Building
4:30 PM
Officers responded regarding a reported groping outside the Imig Music Building. A woman said she was wearing a skirt and leaning over a table filling out a form when a man approached and lingered nearby. He then slapped her bare buttocks, stared into her eyes, and walked away. She described being shocked and reported pain of 4/10.
Three witnesses corroborated the encounter. Two also reported that the man took a shot glass from the table, then threw and broke it. The glasses were giveaway items for people participating in the event; the man had not participated.
Officers located a suspect near Broadway and Arapahoe. The victim and witnesses identified him from a photograph. Witnesses described him as possibly intoxicated, and police recovered an open, half-full bottle of vodka. He declined to answer questions.
The man was arrested and jailed for Unlawful Sexual Contact, 3rd Degree Assault, and Petty Theft. He was also excluded from university property for one year.
*** This was a CUPD arrest. ***
*** This suspect is a former resident of Attention Homes at 1440 Pine. Among other issues, in 2022, he was arrested for felony menacing after threatening to kill another resident in the lobby and drawing back a hatchet as if to strike him with it. ***
